The role:
In a commercial organisation which thrives on international imports and exports, the Trainee Customs Administrator is central to the company's logistical operations. As a Trainee Customs Administrator, full training will be provided by our in-house customs team, meaning no previous freight or customs experience is required, making this a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to embark on a challenging and rewarding career with the prospect of achieving recognised industry qualifications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Customs Manager with:
* Preparing and processing import/export customs declarations using Descartes, Destin8 / CNS
* Accurate documentation checks - Invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin
* Creation of T1/T2 transit documents for shipments under customs control travelling to/from the EU
* Liaising with colleagues and overseas agents to collect information and documentation
* Working closely with our operations team to ensure timely movement of goods
* Communicating effectively and efficiently with carriers and our transport team to track shipments and resolve any clearance delays

* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
* Ability to work both on your own initiative and within a team framework
* Customer service focused and determined to exceed customers’ expectations
* Attention to detail
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment
* Experience of working to deadlines in a time-sensitive environment
* Data entry experience
* Willingness to learn and gain further experience within the industry
