An exciting opportunity, due to retirement, has arisen for a Head of Radiotherapy Services/Lead Therapeutic Radiographer at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.
You will be responsible for the leadership, management, and delivery of Radiotherapy Services which includes the planning and coordinating to ensure cost-effective and high-quality health care services are delivered to serve approximately 1300 new referrals per annum. The department is actively engaged in Research and has a progressive attitude to care and service development.
You, as the successful candidate, would be expected to manage and lead Radiotherapy Services and implementation of radiotherapy pathways, delivery, and strategic planning within the context of National and Local frameworks.
Main Duties of the Job
* Responsible for the leadership, management, and delivery of Radiotherapy Services.
* Delegated authority for Radiotherapy Services for the management and compliance of Cancer Waiting Times standards and CQUINs targets.
* Strategic planning and leadership, including creation of business cases for required capital schemes and service changes.
About Us
The Trust is in the process of significant investment into oncology services, with service redesign to support a robust and resilient service moving forwards. The Oncology Department at Torbay Hospital is concentrated on one site and boasts a chemotherapy day unit, a suite of dedicated oncology outpatient rooms, and an 18 bed oncology/haematology ward.
The radiotherapy department has 2 Elekta VersaHD linear accelerators, Pinnacle 3D planning system, and a new dedicated wide bore CT for treatment planning. Future plans involve the commissioning of a new Planning system along with an SGRT system.
You will be joining a committed and friendly team of Clinical and Medical Oncologists, supported by Specialty Doctors and registrars. We also have a successful cancer clinical trials team with a varied portfolio.
Job Responsibilities
* Manage the services efficiently and effectively to achieve agreed service standards and national targets.
* Responsible for the quality of the service, ensuring professional standards are maintained.
* Ensure readiness of compliance against quality standard ISO9001:2015 for re-certification.
* Responsible for leading the multi-professional workforce.
* Co-ordinate workforce planning for the services.
* Provide professional support and advice to the Clinical Leads in Oncology.
* Act as a clinical expert and leader within all aspects of the Radiotherapy service.
* Identify areas of cost pressure and produce expenditure action plans.
* Ensure that the information and support needs of all patients and carers are met.
* Responsible for department policy and service developments.
* Responsible for the delivery of therapeutic radiography services.
* Interprets national quality standards relating to cancer services.
* Ensure compliance against national service specifications.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* DCR (T) or BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Radiography supplemented by master's level degree or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of post graduate CPD.
* Auditor training, teaching, and appraising.
Knowledge and Experience
* Highly developed specialist knowledge in pre-treatment or treatment delivery activities.
* Able to communicate complex condition/treatment related information.
* Extensive, recent operational experience at advanced/senior level.
* In-depth understanding of ISO9000:2000 quality assurance standard.
* Knowledge and understanding of IR(ME)R 2017 and IRR 2017.
