Full Job Description:
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Key Responsibilities Include:
Health & Safety:
* Promote and develop a Safety Culture across NI GM sites.
* Establish and maintain a robust safety culture across manufacturing units.
* Conduct regular safety training sessions for all employees to promote safe work practices.
* Develop and implement safety protocols, conduct audits, and ensure adherence to industry standards.
* Oversee incident investigations and identify preventive measures.
Environmental:
* Be the catalyst for activity and commitment to environmental management.
* Ensure, at minimum, legal compliance and reduce risk of non-compliance.
* Help drive product stewardship across the business.
* Drive sustainability strategy implementation to support corporate environmental goals.
* Manage carbon reporting by tracking, analyzing, and reporting on greenhouse gas emissions.
Essential Criteria:
* Degree in environmental management, or equivalent with relevant NEBOSH qualifications.
* Practical working knowledge of improving safety in a manufacturing environment.
* Experience in developing a 'safety culture' in an industrial setting.
* Background in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering is advantageous.
* Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance (especially PPC permits).
* Experience in carbon footprint reporting and sustainability strategies.
* Familiarity with safety audit processes and safety management systems.
* Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with government bodies and internal teams up to Director level.
* Background in horticulture, agriculture, or manufacturing industries, with relevant certifications in HSE.
* Desirable to have a working knowledge of legislation around waste management and animal by-products.
