HR Adviser G10 x 1 (12 months Fixed Term Contract)
Contractual hours: 36 hours (full time)
We are seeking experienced HR professionals who can pro-actively contribute to the success of the HR Business Partnering service to provide advice, guidance and commercially focused interventions to enable the Council to meet its strategic workforce objectives. We have two permanent vacancies and an opportunity for a 12-month fixed term contract to provide backfill cover as the HR service actively supports the Council’s transformation programme aimed at enhancing our Oracle Cloud platform. As HR Advisors you will be maintaining the delivery of operational HR services to line managers. Working closely with the HR peer group you will follow best practice and ensure policies & procedures are consistently applied. You will also support wider HR projects and collaborate with diverse teams and external bodies.
Key responsibilities:
* Deliver and ensure compliance with all HR policies and procedures, proactively managing a range of employee relations issues encompassing capability, disciplinary, grievance, and absence management.
* Deliver HR operational activities including processing of payroll transactions, issuing of contracts and amendments as well ensuring HR files are maintained to audit compliance.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with management and staff responding to first line advice and guidance.
* Facilitate line managers to proactively manage their resourcing needs in line with the agreed process, using data insight and corporate systems to support managers.
Applicants will have:
* Experience of operating within a comparable role (HR Adviser / HR Officer) dealing with a range of employee relations.
* Experience of managing conflicting priorities effectively to achieve business objectives.
* Sound knowledge of employment law and able to apply this to all case management.
* Flexible attitude to work and to take on new projects.
* Experience of building effective relationships and working closely with managers to deliver organisational focused outcomes.
* Experience of providing a customer-focused service.
* Excellent IT skills, with the ability to use a range of systems.
* Ability to work in a busy environment, delivering fast-paced services.
* Good organisational skills, resilience and ability to manage conflicting priorities.
