The role: We have created the exciting new role of Managing Director for our Edwin People division; to help us both shape the next stage of our strategy and deliver our ambitious plan for growth. The Managing Director will sit on the Senior Leadership Team for The Edwin Group, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and the Edwin Board. Edwin People support Schools and MATs to deliver organisational improvement, reduce workload, and enhance staff retention by providing expert HR, financial, recruitment, and strategic leadership support, whilst driving efficiency and securing financial stability. We predominantly work with Head Teachers and C-suite executives in multi academy trusts, helping to address a number of their key pain points. We are fully committed to establishing Edwin People as a strong and respected brand in the education sector space, through the development of a compelling suite of services and products, but also increasing our role as thought leaders in the sector. Since launching in January 2024, feedback from clients on the quality of our services has been excellent and we are now ready to scale up, accelerating our growth plans and building a service that operates nationally, supported by our branch network across The Edwin Group. We have ambitious plans that fully support The Edwin Group’s strategy to focus on recruitment and retention services to the Education sector and we have exciting product concepts and growth plans that the Edwin People MD would play a key role in shaping. We are looking for a highly skilled education/business professional who will lead the development and promotion of the Edwin People brand, services and products to the Education sector, building strong and trusted relationships with clients, whilst delivering a range of quality solutions and developing a profitable business. The ideal candidate will have extensive commercial experience and comprehensive knowledge of the education sector and be motivated to meet challenging revenue targets whilst delivering reputational excellence, scaling up the business nationally. With direct oversight of the Edwin People team, you will be an inspirational leader and a team player not only within your own team but working across the senior team of the Edwin Group. Initially you will lead a small but growing team and there will be a need to be hands-on advising clients as well as running the business, but this will change in time as the business scales. Responsibilities: Working with the Group COO, CSO and CFO, to prepare and implement a comprehensive business plan to facilitate the achievement of company objectives and key results, by planning cost-effective, high-quality operations, alongside product and market development activities. Report regularly to the Edwin Board so that they hold an accurate view of the market and the company’s performance. Oversee and be responsible for delivering the company’s financial performance. Support the M&A ambitions and strategy of the Group. Direct and support the Group Sales and Marketing teams in their activities to enable the delivery of business targets, liaising with these teams and our clients to deliver proposals and close deals. Identify and lead opportunities to respond to tender opportunities for Edwin People. Working with the Director of Product, develop Edwin People products and services to achieve market fit. Keep abreast of education policy as well as other national developments in the sector, ensuring that services are tailored to support the needs of schools and MAT’s. Develop and maintain trusted relationships with clients, the wider Edwin Team and other MDs within the Group, actively supporting activities such as cross-sell. Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of team members providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance. Ensure all Edwin People services are delivered to the highest standard and value for money to the client, seeking client feedback regularly. Act as the public speaker and public relations representative of the company in ways that strengthen the profile of Edwin People. Analyse problematic situations, providing solutions to safeguard company reputation and ensure company growth. Support the team development through training, coaching, and nurturing talent. Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated and adhered to across the team. Act as an ambassador for the Group’s ESG Strategy ensuring employees of Edwin People positively adopt, promote and comply with key policies developments, initiatives and share the same commitment. Requirements and skills - Essential: Proven commercial experience Advising the education sector at a senior leadership level, ideally with a broad understanding of education HR issues. Demonstrable experience in developing and delivering strategic business plans. In depth knowledge of market changes and forces that influence the company. Ability to lead, manage and inspire a team of professionals to achieve business success. Excellent organisational and leadership skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities. Track record in business development and achieving ambitious targets. Commitment to the safeguarding of children and young people and ensuring that all policies, procedures and service provision practices comply with all statutory safeguarding requirements and obligations.
