Our client is a well-established, full-service law firm. The Court of Protection Team enjoys an enviable reputation and is instructed on Deputy/COP, Local Authority, and family/carer instructions.
In this role, you will be involved in an interesting range of files assisting with the affairs of those who have lost capacity due to brain injuries, mental health, dementia, and other degenerative illnesses.
Typical instructions include:
1. Applications to the Court of Protection to become a deputy
2. Statutory Wills and Gift Applications
3. Employment and management of carers
4. Investment and fund management
5. Management of day-to-day finances including payments, insurance, and care costs
6. Completion of annual reports, accounts, and tax returns
7. Purchase and adaptation of a home for the incapacitated person
8. Making of specialist will (statutory will) for an incapacitated person
