We are currently seeking a Catering, Retail & Hospitality Team Leaderto be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the allocated catering and Retail outlets. The role is primarily based in our Retail Outlet, but you will be asked to manage and work in other areas of the business.
The Estates department is often the first point of contact for visitors, therefore, taking pride in the level of customer service on offer is essential (This role is initially a 12-month fixed term contract with a potential to become permanent)
About the Role
In this versatile role, you will oversee the smooth day-to-day operations of our catering and retail outlets. The role involves managing and motivating a diverse team, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, HACCP, and COSHH standards, coordinating events such as graduations and conferences, and maintaining high standards of food preparation and presentation. Youll manage stock, cash reconciliation, team rotas, and customer feedback, as well as support recruitment, training, and sustainability initiatives. You will also assist in the planning and delivery of events such as graduation, open days, weddings, summer schools and conferences
About You
You will be motivated and skilled Catering and Retail & Hospitality Team Leader, with a Level 2 Food Safety Certificate, experience in food preparation, and a background in high-quality hospitality and customer-facing roles. Management and supervisory experience, excellent leadership, and the ability to inspire and guide a team are essential. Youll need strong planning, organisational, and communication skills, along with IT proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused approach. You will be confident, adaptable, and eager to contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This role is initially a 12-month fixed term contract with a potential to become permanent.
The contract is 5 out of 7 days so a day off may be given in the week to work a weekend shift. Due to operational requirements some flexibility of working hours will be required to meet business needs. The department can be open 7 days a week and post holders will be required to work on a 5 out of 7 rotating pattern, Covering early mornings, evenings & weekends. Advanced notice will be provided.
Clean driving licence. Some driving to other units may be needed.
Annual leave to be approved by the Catering Operations Manager in accordance with the operational needs of the service. Peak business is September to December and several events in July, Annual leave will be limited throughout these periods
The postholder will be required to work at our other campuses.
