About The Role
We are looking for a Driver/Operations Assistant to join our growing team at the Devon Out of Hours (OOH) service on a Part Time Permanent basis.
The Devon OOH service provides advice, information and treatment for NHS patients who become unwell during the out-of-hours period when their own GP surgery is closed.
The OOH service operates throughout a number of locations within Devon, so occasional travel may be required; however, your main base will be in our Okehampton Treatment Centre site in Okehampton.
Within this job, you'll be responsible for supporting the Operations Manager in the running of Practice Plus Group’s services throughout Devon OOH, specifically in our Exeter sites. You will ensure the delivery of a high quality service for Practice Plus Group patients by utilizing resources while helping with monitoring and evaluating the performance of operational staff by conducting regular audits. You will also assist with the recruitment, selection, and training of new operational staff and provide the Operations Manager with reports when needed.
This job is a Permanent Part Time position and we are looking for someone to work 1 weekend following 2 weeks off on a 3 week rota pattern.
What you'll be doing
You will also cover the Driver position; you’ll chauffeur GPs and nurses to and from patients’ homes – typically when they’re unable to see their usual clinician. This is not an emergency service, and you will need to follow all the normal rules of the road. It will be part of your role to ensure the safety of our clinicians and medical equipment, so you may be asked to escort them to the patient’s front door. You’ll also be expected to keep vehicles appropriately maintained, and at times you’ll need to communicate with the public, as well as the team back at base.
Salary & Benefits:
* 25 days annual leave, increasing with service up to 28 days per year + bank holidays (FTE)
* Contributory pension scheme (2-5%)
* Regional/national opportunities
* Free online and face-to-face training
* Cycle to work scheme
* Childcare vouchers and online discounts
In order for you to be considered for the job, as a minimum we are looking for you to:
* Have a good standard of education
* Have previous experience with problem solving and troubleshooting
* Have the ability to make decisions under pressure
* Have a good knowledge of the local area and good map reading skills
* Have a full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle
It would be nice for you to have any one of the below, although these are not essential:
* An understanding of healthcare
* Previous experience of supervising staff
* Have skills in interpreting/analysing data
