An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Paediatric Psychosocial Service, part of Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust (MFT) CAMHS which sits within the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH).
We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Psychologist to join our Haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) team. This is a brand-new post, funded by Anthony Nolan and can be offered as a band 7 development post or 8a depending on experience. There is specialist supervision and well-being support available alongside a generous protected CPD training budget for the role. Whilst this is a fixed term post for three years, we will be building a case for continued funding and as a department have a strong track record of this. Main duties of the job
1. Assessment and intervention with children and families including neuropsychological assessment.
2. Establishing a patient participation project to inform a holistic needs assessment within HSCT.
3. Establishing a mental health screening pathway pre and post transplant.
4. Ensuring that an HSCT database of outcomes on mental health is recorded and maintained.
5. Working collaboratively with Anthony Nolan Charity.
6. Staff training.
7. Consultation, support and provision of psychological advice.
8. Supervising and supporting the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other psychologists and other clinical members of the specialist paediatric team.
9. Working within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic supervision of psychological practice within the service.
10. Utilising skills for audit, policy, service development and research.
11. Liaison and effective teamwork will be required with staff from paediatric services, community health and education as appropriate.
12. Contributing to MDT clinics.
13. A flexible approach to working to ensure that psychological aspects of care can be addressed within a time pressured medical environment.

Person specification
Registration/ Accreditation
* Registration / Eligibility for registration as a clinical psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Qualifications
* Postgraduate diploma, masters, doctoral degree or equivalent accepted by the British Psychological Society as qualifying the person to work as a clinical psychologist.
* Post-qualification training in a specific therapeutic modality relevant to a paediatric setting (E.g. EMDR, ACT, CFT, CBT, Neuropsychology).
Experience and knowledge
* Experience of working as a specialist clinical psychologist.
* Experience in mental health assessment and therapeutic work across the age range with a full range of presenting problems.
* Experience of assessing and managing risk relating to mental health.
* Experience of multi-disciplinary teamwork.
* Experience of assessment and interpretation of neuropsychological tests.
* Experience of teaching, training and professional and clinical supervision.
* Experience of consulting with health care and other professionals.
* Knowledge of legislation and national guidance in relation to the needs of child and adult patients.
* Experience of working with patients within physical health specialties.
* Working knowledge of professional systems involved in work with child/adult patients, both in specialist hospital and community settings.
* Experience of working autonomously as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience of developing new service initiatives.
* Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
