Company Description Sunderland People First is a voice for people with a learning disability and autistic people so they can live their lives the way they want. We are a community interest company in the North East. We work alongside people with a learning disability and autistic people to improve lives, promote inclusion and champion equality. Role Description This is a volunteer Director role. As a Director, you will collaborate with the board to oversee the company’s strategic direction, governance, and financial stability. This role involves attending bi-monthly meetings, and our AGM, whilst supporting and upholding our company mission and values. Desirable Areas of Skills and Experience- Regional knowledge and experience Sunderland and the North East Commitment to the charity's vision and values Financial literacy, effective decision-making and independent judgement Commitment to Community Development Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively and contribute effectively to discussions Knowledge of the non-profit sector and a passion for supporting individuals in need Previous experience as a Trustee/ Director or board member is a plus Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion Ideally you will have some professional experience within the third sector or a personal connection with what we do. However, most importantly, you will recognise how significant our organisation is within our community and will share our desire to further strengthen our impact and ensure we continue to be a sustainable provider of services to people with learning disabilities and autistic people. Contribute to staff appointment, support, and performance monitoring. Participate in appraisal, recruitment, and disciplinary panels. Partnership working & public engagement & marketing.
