GSK’s Ware Site is a key manufacturing center for GSK, manufacturing medicines and supplying globally. We are looking for a Senior Engineering Technician to join our Assembly department to provide engineering expertise to support production activities. The Assembly department sits within the Respiratory Supply Chain (RSC) at the Ware manufacturing site and is responsible for performing a variety of tasks relating to manufacture of GSK’s respiratory products. Engineering Technicians work in a team (managed by an Engineer) to support the highly skilled, diverse teams across production, quality, and technical functions at the site. Engineering Technicians conduct a wide range of engineering maintenance, calibrations, physical interventions and repair activities. Report into the Shift Engineering Manager, you will coordinate and prioritise engineering activities based on shift priorities as dictated by production requirements. The role includes communicating changes in priorities and reorganising team resources (according and dependent upon skills). You will also provide expert technical support across the team, engaging and communicating technical information across multiple departments whilst also undertaking maintenance, repairs and continuous improvement of equipment, plant and facilities. Engineering Technician tasks include: • Calibration of critical process and utility equipment • Fault finding, problem solving and breakdown resolution • Maintenance activities on utilities equipment • Continuous improvement of production and utilities equipment and processes • Completion of statutory inspections eg ATEX, zero access, LOTO • Liaising with cross functional teams Quality Validation Site operations • You may also be involved with project work (including commissioning and installing new equipment) Shift Pattern: This role is a shift role and operates on a 24/7 shift-pattern and includes night and weekend work. About You: Relevant engineering qualifications and / or experience is required (eg; HND, HNC, Engineering Apprenticeship). A good standard of numeracy and literacy is essential. You will be a willing learner and a good communicator who takes personal accountability, ownership and action to do the right thing. Good verbal, written and computer communication skills are needed and you must be able to work within a team and follow standard processes. We are particularly interested in applicants with hands-on experience in the following areas: • Calibration • Automation (the site standard is Siemens / Rockwell) • Electrical • Mechanical • Pneumatics • Instrumentation • Process control About Ware Site: Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form, and the site has circa 1,500 highly-motivated and capable people working at it. The Ware site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline of new medicines in oral and solid dose forms, as well as operating a high-volume commercial production for respiratory devices.
