We are currently looking for a Forklift & Material Handling Service Engineer to support our forklift trucks and large material handling products, including port machinery. In this role, you will be responsible for on-site and depot-based maintenance and repair work, supported by a skilled and engaged service team. Your tasks: Diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components, including hydraulic valves and rams Performing engine, final drive, and gearbox repairs on diesel and electric-powered forklifts and port machinery Inspecting equipment, identifying faults, and working with the Service Manager to provide customers with accurate repair quotations Carrying out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on a wide range of equipment Identifying and documenting chargeable repairs that require customer approval before proceeding Completing partial or full strip-downs of machinery as required for thorough diagnostics or major repairs Using appropriate tools (meters, hydrometers) to test traction battery voltages and specific gravity, and conducting battery condition surveys Handling job reporting, time entry, part identification, and service documentation via a tablet-based system Coordinating with the Service Manager and Parts Manager to ensure efficient service delivery and parts logistics Delivering a professional and customer-focused service, aimed at building long-term relationships and trust with clients Your profile: Proven experience in a similar service or maintenance role, ideally with forklift trucks, or alternatively with plant equipment, agricultural machinery, commercial vehicles, or HGVs Solid understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and their practical applications A Level 3 City & Guilds / NVQ or equivalent BTEC qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering A customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality service A valid full UK driver’s licence, with a willingness to travel to customer sites as required We offer: Competitive salary and benefits; Training and personal development; Work in a dynamic, collaborative and international environment; Personal and professional development opportunities and ongoing on-the-job training; A culture with flat hierarchies, simple communication and plenty of room for your ideas; A chance to work directly with a manufacturer, and grow together with its new subsidiary from scratch;
