This role will be jointly responsible for the management of all non-clinical services in the neurosciences directorate, providing line management and leadership to a portfolio of the non-clinical staff.
The role reports directly to the deputy Operations Director and will provide critical leadership for the directorate. You will be at the heart of service delivery, driving performance improvement and working closely with the Clinical Leads, Clinical Director and a talented clinical team to shape the future of care.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be jointly responsible for management of all non-clinical services in the directorate, providing line management and leadership to a portfolio of the non-clinical staff. In collaboration with the Matron and Clinical Lead, they will ensure that resources are available and utilised effectively to provide high standards of service, teaching and research, in this patient-centred environment. The post holder will be responsible for attainment of financial, activity & waiting time targets.

Qualifications
* Relevant Degree in Management/Healthcare or significant experience of operational management within the NHS
* Master Degree
Experience
* Detailed knowledge of national NHS agenda
* Experience of patient targets including waiting list management, clinical services, commissioning, service planning etc
* Extensive knowledge of risk issues and management
* Experience of staff management
* Extensive knowledge and experience of full range of HR processes and policies
* High levels of IT literacy (e.g. Advanced Excel Training) with demonstrable experience in managing complex software systems and databases
* Experience of managing large budgets and contracts
* Proven ability to analyse and interpret complex and sometimes conflicting guidance and data and produce reports to national standards and tight deadlines
* Sound negotiator. Influential with credibility in the clinical setting.
* Excellent team management and leadership skills including change management and workforce redesign
* Experience of training and disseminating information
* Experience of implementing IT system projects
* Proven ability to manage budgets and contracts within an NHS environment
* Proven ability to prioritise own and others workload and responsibilities within a pressurised work environment
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentational) with ability to liaise and collaborate with all levels of staff at Trust and national level
* Able to handle and resolve conflict and deal with a diverse range of situations including conflict, hostile and emotive environments
