Role overview
Introduction to the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our Health Business Group as a Legal Administration Assistant.
This role is an excellent way to gain exposure to how legal cases are handled and has previously proven a great stepping stone for progression for many of our now, qualified solicitors.
Reporting to the designated team leader, the Legal Administration Assistant will provide administrative support to the solicitors within the team, assisting in the key client, file management and compliance processes. There may also be opportunities to spend time on secondment with a client. This secondment will be based at an NHS Trust in Warrington.
As a fundamental aspect of the role the Legal Administration Assistant will be required to adhere at all times to the data protection requirements established by the Health Business Group.
Introduction to the team:
The Health Litigation team specialises in defendant clinical negligence claims. Our main client is the NHS and but we have other defendant clinical negligence clients, including the Medical Protection Society.
Our Health team can genuinely say it is award winning, having received major recognition over the last few years, most recently being named as Legal Services Provider of the Year by the Health Service Journal.
Key responsibilities:
16. Providing support to the Head of the Team with the co-ordination of data information for clients
17. File Management – creating and archiving files and ensuring compliance procedures are adhered to
18. Records - archiving and recovery of records as requested by secretarial or fee earning staff
19. Preparing case bundles and documenting against agreed protocols
20. Creating chronologies of medical records
21. Faxing, scanning, photocopying
22. Filing
23. Support and advice to all users of the service
24. Hand deliveries, when required
25. Printing e-mail attachments
26. Answering the telephone
27. Some legal work on files with view to progressing to a paralegal role
Additional duties
28. Possibility of periods on secondment with a client at a future date
