Role: Facility Supervisor – Site Services, Waste Operations & Logistics

Pay Rate: £28 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37 hours per week
Contract Length: Initially 12 months
Location: Thurso
We are seeking a Facility Supervisor who will be responsible for overseeing the execution of multi-disciplinary tasks with varying levels of risk and complexity. The role requires a strong understanding of the work control process and the implementation of safe systems of work to ensure the efficient and secure operation of the facility. The Facility Supervisor will participate in work scope and hazard reviews, collaborate on work scheduling, and coordinate activities to ensure seamless interactions across teams. The role includes monitoring contractor performance to ensure that all tasks meet safety and quality standards.
The successful candidate will supervise facility and operational activities, ensuring that all procedures are carried out in compliance with regulatory and safety requirements. Previous experience working in radiological environments is highly desirable, with a preference for candidates who have been appointed as a Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS). The ability to manage operational tasks, mitigate risks, and uphold safety protocols is essential for this role, as it involves leading teams through complex projects.
Key accountabilities:
Supervise facility/operational activities
Act as building supervisor in facilities
Support the Facility Manager in the day-to-day delivery of tasks and problem solving
Review/prepare safe system of work and waste compliance documentation
Participate in work scope and hazard reviews, work scheduling and interactions
Monitor contractor performance
Review work and apply STOP work principles as appropriate
Assist in facility/project progress reporting
Understand implications of changes to scope of work
Key requirements:
Relevant site knowledge/experience
Knowledge and understanding of work control process and safe systems of work
Previous radiological experience, ideally appointed as RPS
Able to demonstrate good organisational and planning skills
Good safety awareness
Sound interpersonal and communication skills
A positive approach, self-motivated, assertive and ability to use initiative
