Description CMDP, a Joint Venture between Costain and MWHT, have been selected by Southern Water to deliver essential infrastructure solutions for its next AMP8 investment programme. Our role will be to deliver upgrades to water and wastewater assets, including treatment sites, pumping stations and reservoirs and the award is for an initial seven-year term, with an option to extend by up to 5 years. Reporting to the CMDP Head of Engineering, the Design Production Manager will be a key member of the regional CMDP Design Leadership Team with framework accountability for design reporting, design quality, resource management and design processes and procedures across our £800m water and wastewater programme, the scope of which covers initial project definition, optioneering, solution development, detail design and construction support. The role is based out of the CMDP Falmer design office and will involve functional support across our regional design teams, remote MWH Treatment and Costain design teams based in Manchester, and our Strategic Design Partners to ensure fully aligned integration across teams and consistency of design approach. Responsibilities Play an active role within the Design Leadership Team Design progress reporting at a Framework level Resource Management at Framework level Recruitment and on-boarding of design staff Design team competency assurance and coordination of training needs Competency assurance for specialist outsourced designers and supply chain designers Development and continual improvement of AMP8 design procedures and ownership of our internal Design Management Audit process Qualifications Significant line / team management experience in a Design and Build environment Practical experience of managing design production including Earned Value Analysis (CPI/SPI) Previous experience of successful design delivery, procedural and process enhancements / improvements Experience in profiling resource demand against programme requirements and managing recruitment / onboarding of design staff A positive, results focused, flexible can-do approach with the ability to influence and motivate others A team player with excellent interpersonal skills IT skills including MS Office, advanced Excel, Teams, SharePoint, (ProjectWise - desirable although not essential) Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a dynamic working environment Educated to Degree level in an engineering discipline Previous experience working in Joint Ventures (preferred) Water sector experience with an understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes Experience with BIM and digital delivery practices Full UK driving licence Hybrid working – based at our Falmer Office or regional site a minimum of 3 days/week.
