You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
As Data Center Cluster Manager, you will be managing a large team of people on a 24/7 rotating shift across multiple Data Centers. You should be familiar with Problem Change & Incident Management, creating & tracking expenditure, continuously designing and implementing new mechanisms. The role includes mentoring, developing, and growing people in all levels, supporting Infrastructure projects, and proposing technical solutions that are scalable.
Key job responsibilities
1. Team management of experienced Data Center Managers leading Data Center Technicians, including recruitment, people development through coaching and mentoring, performance review, and rotation management.
2. Define the strategy to improve the efficiency and productivity of day-to-day 24x7 Data Center Operations.
3. Manage and continuously improve the workflows, processes, and throughput for Data Center Operations.
4. Manage effectively the global yearly operating budget: CAPEX (technical equipment, infrastructure development), OPEX (cost of personnel, service provision, consumables, and team events).
5. Ensure all operational KPIs and metrics are consistent, being measured, and met.
6. Drive innovation and automation within Data Center Operations.
7. Challenge the quality and quantity of services being provided by the Data Center Operations team and continuously strive to improve our Customer Experience.
8. Management of large-scale events in the Datacenters (crisis situations: thermal or power events, networking issues, etc.).
9. Manage Vendor performance.
10. Ensure Data Centers are compliant with all relevant security policies and procedures.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Extensive experience in IT Infrastructure environment or Data Centers or in manufacturing domain (e.g., aircraft, automobiles, consumer electronics, heavy machinery, list not exhaustive) or military experience and several years of direct people management experience.
2. Solid data mining, analytical skills, as well as in-depth knowledge and experience of change and incident management.
3. High literacy in security, safety, and customer data protection and the ability to learn new technologies related to Data Centers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Knowledge/experience of server hardware (storage system, Network); maintenance/troubleshooting; Safety, Physical and IT Security; Logistics; Power; Cooling & Facilities Engineering.
2. Experience with capacity planning; Lean Six Sigma and/or Agile and Project Management skills.
3. Data Center related certification - CDCP/S/E, CDCMP/TP.
4. Solid communication and decision-making skills in challenging situations and in a fast-paced environment.
