Job overview
The Gastroenterology and Screening Directorate are looking for a Deputy Patient Access Manager to assist in delivering a high quality, effective, and flexible administrative service supporting the current Patient Access Manager.
This role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, necessitating a submission for Disclosure to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal spent and unspent convictions, reprimands, and cautions.
Main duties of the job
Key duties include:
* Ensuring the flow of patients into available clinics and theatre slots.
* Managing outpatient and inpatient waiting lists.
* Dealing with peaks in activity by supporting the allocation of extra capacity clinics.
* Supporting the Patient Access Manager in identifying capacity issues affecting performance.
* Ensuring appropriate ratios of new and follow-up clinic slots to meet demand.
* Providing a point of contact for patients, relatives, and GPs with unresolved queries.
* Collecting data to support the delivery of statistical reports.
Person specification
* Degree/Diploma in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
* Significant experience in NHS administrative roles in a management capacity.
* Knowledge of national and local policies relating to patient access.
* Ability to maintain composure during extreme pressure.
