As a Senior QA Engineer, you will be part of our Fundraising & Trading portfolio rotating across a range of change initiatives, products, and in-house solutions that helped raise £597m towards Cancer Research UK's life-saving work (e.g., our events management product which enables mass events such as Race for Life, London Marathon, Shine; our Online Fundraising Web Application, our Ecommerce platforms, and many more). You will be involved in the whole Software Development Lifecycle process from initial planning to execution and monitoring. You’ll partner closely with Product teams and end-users to ensure systems are operating effectively and safely by designing, developing, and maintaining test automation frameworks. You’ll also support the QA team in moving away from manual testing to automated processes whilst supporting the development of our QA Engineers.
If you are a QA Engineer skilled in using Typescript within a test automation framework to drive automation, we would love for you to join our mission.
What will I be doing?
1. Being heavily involved in the whole Software Development Lifecycle process from initial planning to execution and monitoring.
2. Designing, developing, and maintaining test automation frameworks to efficiently catch bugs and ensure everything is running smoothly.
3. Assisting Technology in improving the quality of products whilst pushing the shift left forward in the lifecycle.
4. Being an advocate for quality and encouraging developers at all levels to write high-quality, testable software.
5. Helping on our journey to CI/CD.
6. Managing the release process, enabling us to release on demand.
7. Reviewing product user interface for conformity to design guidelines.
8. Interpreting and reporting testing results in every phase of the development process, while being an ambassador for quality.
9. Understanding the overall technical architecture and how each feature is implemented.
10. Evaluating and integrating open source and in-house developed toolsets.
11. Providing guidance and assistance on functional and non-functional testing.
12. Supporting in moving away from manual testing to automated processes.
13. Being an ambassador for TDD, BDD, and ATDD models.
14. Coaching and mentoring Junior QA Engineers.
What skills will I need?
1. Solid experience in using TypeScript within a test automation framework to drive automation.
2. Practical knowledge of non-functional testing types such as accessibility, performance, and security testing.
3. Skilled in the design of acceptance tests and a passion for exploratory testing.
4. Initiative to evolve ideas and implement solutions.
5. Knowledge of Agile and Lean ways of working.
6. An enthusiasm for new technologies with the ability to adapt and learn.
7. Excellent attention to detail.
