This role is crucial for driving engineering design and analysis aimed at elevating their innovative marine technology portfolio, focusing on areas such as hydrodynamics, foil design, stability, and structures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Development and enhancement of concept designs through to production for both above and below water systems, including stabilisation, structural performance, and hydrofoil design.
2. Execution of advanced design tasks using 2D and 3D CAD tools, specifically Siemens NX, Rhino, and AutoCAD.
3. Engagement in high-performance structural design applying both first principles and Finite Element Analysis via Simcenter 3D.
4. Assessment and interpretation of specialist subcontractor analyses including Computational Fluid Dynamics.
5. Specification and selection of machinery and equipment, coupled with a clear definition of manufacturing strategies.
6. Stability analysis aligning with both codes and fundamental principles.
7. Contribute technical insights to support the business development team with proposals.
8. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
Job Requirements:
1. Demonstrable expertise in Naval Architecture complemented by proficiency in CAD software such as Siemens NX and AutoCAD.
2. A solid understanding of hydrodynamics, foil design, stability analysis, and structural calculations.
3. Experience in using FEA (Finite Element Analysis) tools for structure performance assessments.
4. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams including control system and architecture engineers, ensuring optimal integration of systems.
5. Strong analytical skills and the capacity to interpret technical data and analysis from third-party sources effectively.
6. Excellent communication abilities, capable of conveying complex technical details effectively across various stakeholders including legislation bodies.
