Joining the Absolute Taste team as Catering General Manager at our client’s renowned wedding venue, ‘The Tythe Barn’, you will take operational leadership for all catering and event requirements. This role offers an exciting challenge for someone passionate about delivering exceptional events and consistently producing high-quality food and service. Your work pattern will typically fall over five out of seven days per week, including weekends, with hours adjusted during busier periods, such as the summer wedding season. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING Operational Leadership: Act as the lead contact for all Tythe events from a catering perspective, managing all weddings, one-off events, and catering arrangements across the venue. Ensure projects are managed within budget and proactively seek operational efficiencies. Event Planning and Delivery: Set objectives for each event and review success against targets and budgets. Conduct regular update meetings with clients and internal teams to review event planning progress and gather feedback. Coordinate staffing and resource allocation to ensure smooth operations while protecting client and brand reputation. Deliver corporate events, main calendar events, ground events, fun days, and live shows. Marketing and Brand Development: Collaborate with internal PR and marketing consultants and the client to develop a marketing strategy for the venue, utilising social and traditional media to build the brand. Manage and develop the client’s social media accounts to further benefit the business. Operational Standards: Ensure events adhere to agreed guidelines, including animal welfare, Health & Safety, and brand fit. Conduct regular debrief meetings post-event with all key stakeholders. Venue and Service Development: Manage and develop the on-site farmhouse offering, enhancing group and individual visits to increase revenue through the gardens. Work with external parties to negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance with agreed terms and conditions. Team Management: Manage staffing rotas, hours, holidays, and lieu days using the company payroll system. Provide support for running tastings, writing menus, and sourcing equipment. Liaise with the head chef to ensure all dietary requirements are catered for and preparations are completed before events.
