About the Role
OQC are looking for someone with a strong background in Cryogenics and RF measurements to join us as a Cryogenic Measurement Engineer and support our hardware development and testing processes. You will carry out testing on prototype components and technologies, to advance the development of our cryogenic qubit control and measurement infrastructure and drive forward hardware innovation. You will also have the opportunity to have input into improving our testing protocols, working cross functionally with our Quantum Engineers to push the boundaries of our technology and put quantum computing in the hands of humanity faster.
We are open to consideration of both experienced specialists with commercial experience in this field as well as those seeking an opportunity to develop their skills following their academic research.
Responsibilities include:
* Development and validation of cryogenic measurement infrastructure for quantum computing
* Carrying out testing and producing high quality test reports
* Design and develop new measurement setups and techniques for characterisation of prototype components.
* Coordination of prototyping, testing and reporting activities.
* Documentation of technical work and progress.
Person Specification
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Practical experience with experimental design and measurement
* Practical experience with radio frequency metrology
* Familiarity with common DC and RF characterisation techniques and associated instrumentation.
* PhD (experimental) - physics, electrical or radio engineering focussing on quantum technology or low temperature condensed matter/solid state physics. Or MSc - physics, electrical or radio engineer with the right level of industry experience.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Working with cryogenics and dilution refrigerators
* Measurement of quantum technologies, superconducting devices or cryogenic RF components for quantum computation and sensing applications
* Working in agile environment
* Familiarity with testing and validation in commercial setting
* Python or similar coding skills
* Electrical or thermal modelling skills
* Advanced knowledge of the properties of materials at low temperatures
