The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service dedicated to the nuclear industry. Our vision is to be recognized nationally and internationally as the United Kingdom’s leading organization for protective policing of the civil nuclear industry and critical national infrastructure. Given the critical nature of our work, we recruit skilled and committed professionals.
Our role in protecting the nation’s security is unique, involving highly trained, disciplined, and professional teams providing 24/7 armed response; patrolling and protecting nuclear sites, facilities, and materials; working with local communities and Home Office Police Forces. We are also part of the Strategic Armed Policing Reserve and have been deployed across the country in response to terrorist threats.
Joining the CNC includes enrollment in a 19-week comprehensive Authorised Firearms training program, designed to develop you into a highly trained firearms professional, regardless of prior experience. If you are already AFO/ARV trained, you will undertake a condensed 4-week training program.
After a 6-month probation, you can apply for specialized roles such as Dog Handler, Firearms Instructor, or Strategic Escort Group Officer.
We uphold high standards, values, and ethics, with all officers expected to exemplify professionalism and integrity in line with the CNC Code of Ethics.
Applicants must have a full manual driving license and have satisfactorily completed their probation period with their current or previous force.
Benefits include:
* 28 days (224 hours) annual leave plus bank holidays
