Youth Diversion and Mental Health Court Worker

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Youth Diversion and Mental Health Court Worker provides support services to children, youth, and families, focusing on addressing mental health challenges and promoting positive development for those involved in or at risk of judicial involvement. This role plays a critical part in the diversion efforts by identifying and addressing underlying issues contributing to legal challenges and working with youth and their families to create alternatives to judicial proceedings. Through bridging gaps between mental health, education, and judicial systems, and fostering collaboration with Youth Court and community partners, the Youth Diversion and Mental Health Court Worker aims to reduce recidivism, enhance resilience, and improve long-term outcomes for youth navigating complex systemic intersections. The Youth Diversion and Mental Health Court Worker works in alignment with the Agency’s Mission, Vision, Values and Lean Leadership Model.
The Youth Diversion and Mental Health Court Worker is responsible for the case management of all files on their caseload and is required to perform duties related to the development of strategies to mitigate behaviours leading to legal involvement while supporting mental health recovery and growth.
The Youth Diversion and Mental Health Court Worker will provide services in-person, virtually, and in the community (i.e. home, school, satellite offices) as required.

Linguistic Requirement:
* The linguistic requirement for this position is English. However, bilingualism in French/English will be considered an asset.

Requirements of the Job
Qualifications:
* Diploma in Child and Youth Care or equivalent
Experience:
* 2+ years experience working with youth and families where mental health and the justice system intersect
* Experience in case management, resource navigation, and advocacy
* Awareness of/experience in the court process would be considered an asset
Knowledge:
* Strong understanding of child development, family dynamics, and judicial systems
* Sound knowledge of community resources and the ability to connect families with appropriate services
* Familiarity and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including educators, counselors, social workers, law enforcement, and community agencies
* Knowledgeable and experienced in anti-oppressive practices related to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport
* Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
* Cultural competency and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
* Able to develop strategies to mitigate behaviours leading to legal involvement while supporting mental health recovery and growth
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
* Ability to maintain all client records as per the agency standards
* Demonstrated commitment to client safety
* Demonstrates professionalism in dealing with highly confidential information and situations.
This position requires travel across Renfrew County, at a minimum of 25% of the time.
Condition of Employment
* Proof of eligibility to work in Canada.
* A valid Provincial driver’s licence and use of a reliable motor vehicle
