About the Role
As an Assistant Designer, you will be working closely with the Senior Designers on ASOS DESIGN FOOTWEAR, supporting to design all areas of shoes, creating trend-led ranges for our twenty-something customer. The candidate has an opportunity to thrive with a high-energy team, and there is a lot of opportunity to grow a sought-after skill set. The role is in a very exciting department, and we are looking for someone who loves fashion and has an endless enthusiasm for delivering new ideas and researching the latest trends! What You’ll Be Doing
* Researching, developing, and designing ranges for ASOS DESIGN Footwear, working across all categories of footwear, for both casual and dressy product areas.
* Identifying key trends, shapes, and first-to-market styles with commerciality in mind, ensuring the most fashion-forward range and choice for our global customer base.
* Creating mood and colour boards, sharing creative ideas to shape and develop the footwear range, predicting trends for the season. This may also include shop, social media, catwalk, street style reports, and cultural moments, as well as sourcing new fabrications and trimmings.
* Working alongside the buying teams to react to sales information and present design ideas, developing products to drive the range.
* Building relationships with suppliers and advising factories on direction, construction, key details, materials, and trims.
* Anticipating the needs of our twenty-something customer, using sales data, customer profile analytics, and trend research to deliver a commercial product range.
* Adhering to the critical path to achieve deadlines, ensuring products are developed for the relevant and optimum selling period.
* Working with the technical team on initial fits, identifying and helping to problem-solve for the department.
* Researching and developing unique products, working on long lead time products, as well as quick reaction short lead ranges.

Qualifications
Who We’d Like to Meet
* Previous footwear design experience for an aspirational brand or high street retailer.
* Experience working with Far East, European, and UK suppliers.
* A strong commercial handwriting and understanding of the ASOS brand and customer.
* Passionate about fashion and immersed in trends; a fashion-forward eye is key.
* Proficient in Photoshop, Adobe, CAD, PLM, and hand sketch skills.
* Experience in executing tech packs and sketches for product development for footwear.
* Strong organization skills and the ability to use initiative and work in a high-pressure environment.
* The ability to build great relationships with colleagues across the business and suppliers alike.
* Someone who is forthcoming and confident in presenting new and exciting ideas to line managers, the wider team, and senior leadership.
* Someone who can identify product opportunities and help drive the brand forward.
* Comfortable and experienced in traveling in the UK and internationally for supplier/product development meetings and inspirational purposes.
