About the Role
The Deputy Head of Assessment for Phase 1 and Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Medical Education is a pivotal role, providing operational responsibility for the implementation, development, and design of assessments across Phase 1 (Year 1 and 2) of our five-year programmes (delivered in London and Malta) and Graduate Entry Programme (GEP) MBBS. Notably, the post holder will be working with the Head of Assessment, Principal and Senior Internal Examiners and Professional Service colleagues. They will also work with the MBBS Programme Lead and Deputy Leads, as well as the MBBS Heads of Year.
Responsibilities will include overseeing the design and implementation of assessments across Phase 1, collaborating with module leads to ensure alignment with curriculum objectives and standards, analysing assessment data to provide insights for curriculum improvement and student support initiatives, and providing guidance and support on assessment best practices. The Deputy Head of Assessment for Phase 1 will also be required to deliver teaching activities in the subject area of their expertise (Anatomy, Biology, Neuroscience or Physiology).
About You
Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant medical or healthcare professional education discipline and/or relevant professional qualification and/or equivalent professional experience. You should also have experience in leading assessment activities at either year level or programme level in a healthcare programme, and demonstrate a strong understanding of assessment principles, methodologies, and best practices. Applicants should also demonstrate proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools. Finally, you should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
