This is a rare opportunity to join Hertfordshire County Council as Executive Support Officer to our Director of Law and Governance. You will be based in a fast-paced environment at our Stevenage offices, undertaking a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our Legal Service.
About the role
We're seeking a diligent, detail-orientated and proactive person to provide effective, high quality and confidential dedicated support to the Director of Law and Governance in our large local government authority. In this role you'll act as the first point of contact to our Chief Legal Officer with responsibility for their diary and inbox and will represent their interests as contact for internal and external stakeholders.
In this role you will also be actively involved in supporting the Hertfordshire Heads of Legal meetings, Complaints Managers meetings, Lawyers in Local Government meetings, Public Law Partnership meetings, Legal Services Management Team meetings and Whistle Blowing meetings. Confidentiality and an ability to deal sensitively with information is therefore essential to this role.
In addition, you'll be supporting the effective running of the Law and Governance management team, including providing briefing notes and presentations for internal and external meetings, conducting research and supporting their work with clients and staff within the HCC Legal department as required.
The ideal candidate with be an enthusiastic individual with a can do attitude, as well as being self-motivated, professional and approachable, always providing excellent team support and best practice.
Essential
Competent administrator with experience of using Microsoft Office, including Excel
Excellent customer care skills, acting as first point of contact
Excellent in prioritisation of numerous tasks, efficient in time management and able to work with competing timescales and challenging demands.
Desirable
Knowledge or experience of working in a political environment, and of local government corporate objectives and current issues
Knowledge or experience in Legal administration
