Estimator required for a tier 1 contractor based in Kent
EXCELLENT SALARY /PERM ROLE
The Estimator works under regular supervision and is capable of the set up and successful running of all aspects of a tender.
The Estimator is responsible for assisting with the effective and efficient running of pre-construction matters to:
Prepare tenders and budgets to secure future projects.
Assist in keeping costs to the minimum whilst also developing and maintaining excellent relationships with Subcontractors and other staff members.
Support, advise, develop and train all members of the team on pre-construction matters and other aspects of the business.
Duties and Responsibilities
Preparation of budgets and tender for new projects
Support the Pre-Construction Director in his duties
Maintain diary of all dates including submission dates
Collating tender documents and amendments
Printing and filing of all tender information
Reviewing all tender documents to establish the project requirements
Undertake take offs, both manually and digitally, from tender documents and drawings
Produce Bill of Quantities
Produce and issue enquiries to subcontractors
Collate quotations
Evaluate returned quotations from subcontractors and prepare comparison
Input costs into Bill of Quantities
Preparation of tender submissions
Receive, process and submit post tender queries
Manage post tender period including all queries up until contract signature
Arrange, carry out and minute tender handover meeting to construction team including handover of all relevant tender documents
Maintain and update subcontractor database
Attend site visits
Filing and general administration
Uphold a tidy, clean and fresh working environment
Maintain control procedures in accordance with Integrated Management Systems ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Person Specification
Ability to read and interpret different sources of written information
Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Able to work within dedicated timescales
Good communication skills, both oral and written
Good time management and organisation skills
Driving Licence
Enthusiastic and self-motivated
Approachable, with a professional manner
Reliable
