We are working in partnership with a large, well established SEN school in Sheffield S21, who is looking to appoint a Performing Arts Tutor. This is a full-time, permanent vacancy, seeking an outstanding candidate to join the school on its journey of growth, starting ASAP. Job Purpose: Our personal tutor is employed to exhibit exemplary teaching skills, incorporating Preparation for Adulthood curriculum themes through practical differentiated delivery of Performing Arts. They must have the ability to deliver a range of accredited and non-accredited qualifications and outcomes.
Personal tutors are responsible for ensuring their tutees are progressing across all curriculum areas as expected, maximizing the development of skills which are transferable to a variety of real-life situations and contexts in preparation for adulthood. The right candidate must possess the following:
1. Possess good organisational skills
2. Be good communicators
3. Be flexible and adaptable
4. Need to be creative and innovative with good specialist and subject knowledge
5. Be capable of managing a challenging workload, with good time management skills and an ability to deliver to deadlines.
The successful candidate will:
1. A degree in an appropriate discipline or significant relevant industry experience
2. PGCE or Cert Ed Level 4 − Minimum Level 2 (or equivalent) Maths and English
3. Specialist subject qualifications
4. Teaching learners with autism and MLD within a special education setting
5. Teaching a vocational curriculum in a similar organisation (Pre-Entry - Level 2)
6. Teaching Performing Arts/Drama, or PSHE related topics, or ability to do so.
7. Able to work independently and in a team
8. Motivate, inspire, and effectively support learners
9. Driven to achieve results and succeed
10. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to solve problems and use initiative
11. Contribute to the overall development of teaching and learning throughout the college
12. Ability and passion to discover new opportunities for learning and developing own professional specialisms and experiences
