Purpose of the role: The role focuses on supporting and enhancing existing manufacturing processes and equipment to optimize performance, reliability, and efficiency. This includes conducting root cause analyses, troubleshooting technical issues, implementing process improvements to enhance product quality, yield, and production efficiency, and monitoring performance metrics to report on key production trends and improvements. Additionally, you will support the development, installation, and commissioning of new processes and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. Key Accountabilities: • Escalation point for production maintenance issues. • Analyse machine metrics to identify trends. • Interface with manufacturing engineering, test and systems engineering. • Develop current manufacturing processes through continuous improvement. • Conduct and support new equipment introductions. • Design of production intent tooling and fixtures. • Provide support for manufacturing operations. • Liaise with manufacturing operations and research and development to solve problems. • Ensure equipment performs within the expected ranges of performance, troubleshooting those that do not. • Undertake technology transfer to manufacturing Licensees. • Support design and set up of manufacturing site with Licensees. Knowledge and skills required for the role: • Practical, hands-on engineering with a collaborative approach • Proficiency in diagnosing equipment issues • Versatile skills in mechanical and electrical tasks • Qualification (HNC/HND/BEng) in engineering field • Experience with advanced technologies (e.g., laser welding/drilling) • Creative design capabilities for tooling and fixtures • Familiarity with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron) • Proficiency in design tools like AutoCAD/Creo • Experience with G-Code programming
