This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the ICT field while working towards an industry-recognised qualification. As an ICT Apprentice, you will provide support to the technical and service management teams and play a key role in maintaining our IT systems and services at sea for the Royal Navy.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
• Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of server hardware, software, and networking equipment.
• Provide technical support to service management, troubleshooting IT issues and resolving queries with the end user.
• Assist with system updates, backups, and software upgrades.
• Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and ensure appropriate documentation.
• Learn to diagnose technical problems and implement solutions efficiently.
• Support the rollout of new systems and applications.
• Ensure compliance with IT policies and procedures, including data protection and cybersecurity.
• Attend training sessions and actively participate in apprenticeship coursework.

* Interpret and prioritise internal or external customer's requirements in line with organisation's policy
* Apply the appropriate tools and techniques to undertake fault finding and rectification

* Operate safely and securely across platforms and responsibilities maintaining the security of personal data of internal and external stakeholders
* Communicate with all levels of stakeholders, keeping them informed of progress and managing escalation where appropriate

* Manage and prioritise the allocated workload effectively making best use of time and resources

* Use a range of Cabling or Connectors equipment in line with technical requirements for example physically or remotely
* Test and evaluate network environments
