We have a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant to work at St Joseph's Medical day unit and discharge lounge in Stoke Mandeville Hospital. We are a general medical ward with a medical day unit that runs multiple clinics including but not limited to Gastroenterology, endocrine, Neurology, Rheumatology, Oncology and Haematology. We are currently seeking high calibre staff who are keen, passionate and motivated individuals to join our busy unit which provides a high standard of patient care and values the 'personal touch' to create the best environment for patient recovery.
You will be joining a team of dedicated professionals who you will learn from on the job, we provide training to ensure you have the skills for the role and offer development opportunities to realise your career potential. You will be enrolled onto a healthcare support worker induction programme held each month, ensuring you feel supported as you take the first steps into your new career.
Please note: most of our wards operate a 24-hour shift rotation across a 7-day service. We are recruiting to full and part time hours, however for the role of a Healthcare Assistant, you will be expected to work shift patterns, unfortunately we are unable to offer set days/working patterns. The minimum part time hours we recruit to is 23 hours.
Communicate with patients and their visitors in order to promote their comfort and wellbeing
Communication with other members of the organisation and respond appropriately
Assist with admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
Make unoccupied beds and occupied beds.
Assist patients out of bed, helping with dressing and undressing as required
Wash/bathe patients in bed and in the bathroom.
Care of hands and feet of patients in bed.
Observe patients’ skin and report any red marks or blemishes to nursing staff in charge.
Assist with manual handling and transferring of patients complying with the Trust Moving and Handling policy
Under direction of trained nurse, assist with the treatment/management of patients with insect infestations.
