Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in quantum condensed matter theory, working with Professor S. A. Parameswaran. The position will be supported from the UKRI Frontier Research Grant “Controllable Quantum Entangled States: Convergence at the Tunability Frontier (ConQuESt).” Postholders are expected to conduct research in collaboration with the Professor Parameswaran and other members of the Oxford Quantum Condensed Matter Theory group. Duties will include carrying out research in theoretical physics within the general areas supported by the grant; related tasks will include collaborating in the preparation of reports and journal articles, presenting papers at conferences and workshops, and representing the group at meetings /seminars. The position allows considerable flexibility in research topics, but the grant has as its main themes the exploration of new many-body quantum phases of matter that can be realized in engineered moiré heterostructures on modern quantum computing devices. The post-holder will have the opportunity to teach. Applicants should hold (or be close to completion) a PhD in Physics or a related field. A strong experience in quantum condensed matter physics or closely related topics and analytical or numerical background in the study of strongly-correlated topological phases, many-body aspects of quantum information, and/or non-equilibrium quantum dynamics are essential for this post. Please direct enquiries about the role to Professor Parameswaran at: sid. parameswaranphysics.ox.ac.uk. The post is full time (part time considered) and fixed term 2 years in the first instance. The closing date for applications is noon on Monday, 16 December 2024. You will be required to upload a CV and Supporting Statement as part of your online application. The Supporting Statement should include a cover letter and should also clearly describe how you meet each of the selection criteria listed in the job description. You will also be asked to provide details of at least two, and ideally three, referees. You should arrange for your referees to submit all references to aptreferencesphysics.ox.ac.uk before the deadline. £38,674 to £46,913 per annum : Grade 7
