Specialist Healthcare Scientist (Diagnostic and Radiation)

We are looking to recruit a specialist Clinical Scientist to join the Diagnostic Radiology Physics team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Trust. The post holder will act as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in Diagnostic Radiology to the Trust and its contracted customers. This position is based within Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Exeter, although some work will be expected at other sites across Devon.

Job responsibilities
The team provides medical physics services to the local radiology & cardiology departments, the NHS Breast Screening Programme and community hospitals alongside various dental & vet practices. There are good links with the University of Exeter particularly in support of the PET-CT centre at the Mireille Gillings Neuroimaging Centre. There are significant redevelopment plans in progress across the area. The Exeter Nightingale Hospital has been repurposed as a community diagnostic hub with additional hubs planned in Torbay and North Devon.
Applicants for appointment at Band 8a will have appropriate HCPC registration, significant relevant experience and a current certificate of recognition as an MPE. Applications are also invited from individuals with less relevant experience who may be considered for appointment at a lower band. A full driving licence is required for this position and access to an appropriate vehicle for the carriage of test equipment within the network.
The department encourages staff training and development and is an accredited training centre for the PTP, STP and HSST training schemes. The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported in further professional development, based on their needs and service objectives.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week
