Job summary An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, conscientious and dedicated Maintenance Supervisor (Electrical) to manage and supervise a team of engineering craftsperson responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical plant and equipment at buildings maintained by CHoICE Facilities Services. CHoICE delivers a range of services including both Hard and Soft FM, and it is the Hard FM element (Estates) that we are seeking to recruit. CHoICE currently delivers services across a number of premises within South Tyneside and Sunderland. Very much One Team, but geographically based to provide responsive services, we have a vacancy for a Mechanical Supervisor (South Tyneside based). The successful applicant will lead and supervise a highly motivated and experienced Electrical team, and this role offers an exciting opportunity for development. The post holder will be required to be flexible and have a wide ranging knowledge of electrical systems to support and ensure the completion of maintenance, repair and installation activities can be completed in the most efficient and effective manner. As part of a highly diverse role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage and oversee task completions linked to a large scale low voltage system within a large Acute Trust. Typical systems include: general power and lighting systems, emergency lighting systems, nurse call systems, operating light systems, generator power systems, swipe access and BMS controls. Main duties of the job All applicants must have a positive, friendly and co-operative manner whilst being prepared to be flexible to meet the service needs of the Trust. The role will require the applicant to use their own initiative when planning and organising engineering staffs workloads as well as supporting varied craft persons and maintenance staff during the completion of a range of problem solving scenarios to allow for a satisfactory outcome. Whilst adapting to the changing demands of the role, the post holder will be required to mindful of key performance indicators when allocating and overseeing the completion of planned and reactive tasks. The ability to introduce and develop new localised systems/procedures will be key, to ensure that health and safety and statutory and regulatory compliance is achieved and never compromised. In order to achieve this, you will be supported by a team of Estates Officers and managers. Successful applicants will need to have a knowledge of mechanical and building related systems with a detailed knowledge of electrical systems typically found within an NHS Trust. Completion of a City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in electrical engineering or equivalent is essential as well as the completion of a formally recognised, relevant and accredited apprenticeship. The role will also require the participation in the current electrical on-call rota and undertake overtime when the service needs dictate for which appropriate payments will be made.
