For full information, please see the attached Job Description JOB PURPOSE Provide a highly specialised enquiry answering service from the Leeds Medicines Advisory Service. Provide a Clinical Pharmacy service to a defined specialist patient group in line with the Advanced Competency Level Framework To deliver the Medicines Information related objectives identified in the Medicines Management strategy. To work with the Leeds Formulary Manager, Medicines Finance and Commissioning teams to ensure information required for formulary and commissioning meets the need of the process PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY To provide leadership within Medicines Advice and the wider pharmacy in using information to inform high quality patient care. To be competent to an advanced level and deliver a safe and effective MI service that considers the overall complex clinical picture. Provide a high quality enquiry answering service to health care professionals of all grades within the Trust (including Consultants, pharmacists and nursing staff ) and patients and health care professionals outside the Trust Search for, evaluate, interpret and present highly complex specialised advice using oral and written communication skills, of ten considering and comparing a range of options where the information may be conflicting or unavailable, in order to promote the safe and clinically effective use of medicines. Work independently using clinical experience and specialist skills to provide reactive and proactive information and evaluated advice. The post holder has the freedom and experience to decide how to achieve the expected results, deciding when/if to seek guidance from peers. Responsible for coordinating and supervising rotational Medicines Information staff within allocated sessions, acting as a role model to more junior pharmacists. Organise workload according to individual skill set and experience, and to meet changing service requirements. Deliver and develop MI skills training packages to staff within the Trust. Review and professionally check work produced by others to maintain high levels of service in line with legal and professional responsibilities. Respond to complaints and difficult or challenging circumstances as required or referred by junior staff. Provide a high standard clinical pharmacy service consistent with the advanced level competency framework, to patients within a given clinical speciality, to be agreed with the Clinical Pharmacy Team Leader taking into account the specialist skills and interests of the post holder.
