Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Transportation Clerk to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the logistics and transportation processes, ensuring the smooth movement of goods while adhering to regulatory requirements. This position requires strong organisational skills and an understanding of supply chain operations.
Responsibilities
1. Transportation and Scheduling: Coordinate and arrange transportation services to ensure timely deliveries that align with customer demands. This involves scheduling staff effectively and managing the timing and sequence of deliveries to minimize delays.
2. Load Preparation: Prepare and organize loads for shipment. This involves planning the loading of goods in a manner that maximizes space utilization and ensures safe transport.
3. Quality Control: Implement measures to prevent quality control issues. This includes regular checks and balances throughout the logistics process to ensure that all products meet the required standards before and during transit.
4. Fleet and Inventory Management: Oversee the company’s vehicle inventory, ensuring all are in good working condition and meet regulatory requirements. This includes scheduling regular maintenance and necessary repairs to prevent disruptions in service.
5. Driver Scheduling: Create and manage rosters for drivers, ensuring all shifts are covered without overworking staff, while also maintaining high levels of efficiency.
6. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all transportation and warehousing activities comply with legal and safety standards. Regularly update protocols to adhere to changing regulations.
7. Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess and improve logistics processes by analyzing performance data and feedback from staff and customers. Implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
1. Experience in a logistics or transportation role.
2. Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and EDI processes is advantageous.
3. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
4. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
5. Knowledge of FDA regulations related to transportation is a plus.
6. Proficient in using various software applications for data management and reporting.
7. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with team members and external partners.
