JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Systems Safety Engineer is a product assurance role in the CSC Systems Engineering Team. Reporting to the Engineering Lead - Product Safety, the successful candidate will be required to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop the Safety Case for their assigned projects.
This is a unique opportunity to provide technical safety assurance within a team of world-class Safety and Environmental Engineers. This role requires knowledge in the design and assurance of complex systems across a broad spectrum of technical areas. A sound understanding of Systems Engineering is necessary, as well as an awareness of broader Systems Engineering disciplines, e.g., Requirements Verification and Validation, Human Systems Integration, Operating Environment and EMC.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Support the development and execution of the RCD Safety Program, update and review of key metrics and objectives.
* Support Hazard Identification, Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment.
* Support the development and execution of the RCD Safety and Environmental Management System, Safety and Environmental Management Plan, Safety and Environmental Case Report and Hazard Log.
* Support and provide coordination to Product Safety & Environmental meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
* Provide support to the Safety & Environmental teams as required.
* Promote a positive Product Safety and Environmental Culture within the project through support to Combat and Platform Systems teams.
* Act as a role model for professional behavior.
* Conduct Engineering Change assessments to ensure that impacts, risks, and issues related to design, integration, test, and acceptance activities are identified, communicated, and recorded.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Academically qualified as an Engineer with a recognized university bachelor's degree in engineering or similar.
* 7 years or more experience within complex engineering design projects, preferably Defense.
* 5 years or more experience in developing Safety Cases.
* 3 years or more experience working in teams with the ability to lead as required.
* Practical application of standards and legislative requirements, preferably DStan, Mil-Stds, LR NSR, ANEP-77, etc.
* Apply Systems Engineering methodologies.
