Polypipe Building Products are focused on delivering solutions to the residential sector. Polypipe Building Products works with national and local developers, plumbing and heating engineers, general builders and groundworkers to deliver above and below ground drainage systems, rainwater solutions as well as hot and cold plastic plumbing products.
The Area Sales Manager is a key contact between Polypipe and our customers. This customer-focused role is responsible for partnering with our customers to understand their needs, drive sales to achieve financial targets, and ensure they experience excellent service. This role is a critical internal partner for our sales and operations teams which requires strong communication skills, internal stakeholder management, and the ability to analyse data.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Represent and promote the Polypipe brand and culture whilst developing Specified Merchant key accounts.
2. Achieve the required targeted Account Sales Growth and profitability target as set by the business.
3. Act as a key contact for the merchant customer into the Polypipe business, including working with our internal sales team and Key Account Managers in partnership to drive sales and profit.
4. Escalate as needed to ensure the issue is effectively resolved.
5. Communicate regular updates to designated accounts via visits, phone, email, and video meetings.
6. Monitor KPI and Metrics, populate as needed, and review regularly with customers (OTIF, customer satisfaction).
7. Deliver presentations professionally, confidently, and effectively to new and prospective customers promoting Polypipe products, services, and brand values.
8. Time management - Organise appointments in advance to maximise productivity and make full use of your time.
9. Record all meeting objectives/outcomes and keep all customer details up to date via CRM, making full use of the system by maximizing its tools (reporting, diary management).
10. Be well prepared, presented, and prompt for all appointments.
11. Ensure a continual pipeline of area growth to ensure delivery of the best possible balance mix of volume, turnover, and profit.
Skills & Requirements:
1. Capable of running a national sales territory successfully.
2. Experience in a similar Sales role within the industry.
3. Proven track record of exceeding sales targets on a regular basis.
4. Proven track record of delivering against KPIs.
5. Proven experience of dealing with a wide variety of people in a customer care environment.
6. Negotiation experience & industry experience.
7. Ability to proactively problem solve and manage situations with urgency.
8. Competent in all Microsoft Office programs, specifically PowerPoint and Excel.
9. Evidence of a clear understanding of all aspects of customer services and able to demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement.
10. Able to ask clarifying questions and provide accurate information.
11. Able to remain calm in pressurised circumstances and deal with difficult situations whilst prioritising their own workload.
12. Exceptional communication skills to maintain and enhance customer relationships.
13. Exceptional presentation skills.
14. Experience of managing projects with specific budget adherence.
15. Responsibility for budgets.
16. Excellent pro-active communication/negotiation skills (face to face/telephone/written).
17. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
