The Role:
I am working with a rapidly expanding fashion supplier based in City Centre Manchester who have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Garment Technologist to join their menswear team.
Main Duties:
1. Working closely with merchandiser/design teams, as well as our Product Development Manager on the menswear Department.
2. Creating development specs at the beginning of each season from original samples or CADS.
3. Measuring samples at first fit / PP / production sample stages.
4. Conducting, leading and owning live in-house fit sessions.
5. Sending comprehensive clear fit comments and amended specs to the factories, supported with clear diagrams if needed. Liaising with them on a daily basis.
6. Prioritizing & balancing workload to ensure shipment dates of product are met in a timely order.
7. Responsible for your own fit comments / pattern solutions and advice to factories to maintain a good quality/standard.
8. Advise factory of basic test requirements per style ie Base / bulk / zip tests.
9. Progression and training on chemical testing requirements.
10. Checking & approving care label layouts, reading test reports.
11. Action in-house wash tests if necessary.
12. Assessing bulk inspection reports from the China office which come through on a weekly basis. Assisting the merch team with checking factory's final packing lists, packaging and barcode details.
13. Giving commercial decisions on bulk quality issues.
Skills Required:
1. Experienced in a Garment Tech role.
2. Menswear experience would be preferred but isn't essential.
3. Microsoft Office experience.
4. Organized.
5. Accurate with their work.
6. Enthusiastic to learn.
7. Must be able to work well within a team environment.
This is a fully office-based role, although there is some flexibility surrounding actual working hours.
