Job Title: Technical Assistant Location: Harlow, Essex Salary: £25,000 to £30,000 DOE Benefits Monday - Friday - 40 hour week Job Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Assistant to support our clients Technical Manager in ensuring full compliance with audit and technical matters. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the implementation team for the new food quality control system, Safefood 360, and contribute to maintaining high standards across various technical and operational functions. Key Responsibilities: Compliance & Auditing: Assist the Technical Manager in maintaining total compliance in all audit and technical matters related to food safety and quality. System Implementation: Play a key role in the implementation of the new food quality control system, Safefood 360. Enquiries Management: Handle enquiries from suppliers, customers, public bodies, and the general public, ensuring clear communication and timely responses. IT Competency: Demonstrate strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint), for record-keeping, reporting, and communication. Health & Safety: Ensure adherence to Health and Safety legislation on-site, and enforce policies to maintain a safe working environment. Calibration of Equipment: Oversee the calibration of all equipment to ensure certificates are current and accurate. Site Auditing: Assist with the review and audit of site working practices, hygiene, personnel, product, and packaging to ensure compliance with internal standards. Numeracy Skills: Use good numeracy skills to track and report data, as well as assist with calculations during audits and assessments. Contractor Liaison: Liaise with external contractors, ensuring visitor and contractor policies are followed at all times. Clear Communication: Communicate issues clearly and calmly, ensuring they are dealt with effectively and efficiently. Documentation: Maintain high standards of punctuation, spelling, and grammar in all documentation and correspondence. Qualifications & Skills: Experience: Previous experience in a technical or food safety-related role is desirable. Education: A relevant qualification in food safety, food science, or a related field is advantageous but not essential. Graduate with food safety qualifications, knowledge of audit, HACCP and BRCGS compliance ideal. IT Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams). Numeracy: Good numeracy skills for data tracking and reporting. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to engage with various stakeholders professionally.
