Job overview
Band 3 Nursing Assistant required to work in the Amputee rehab unit ARU. We are looking for an experienced Band 3 Nursing Assistant who is willing to be a strong team player who can advocate for our patients during their rehabilitation. Communication is essential, and sharing the workload is critical to meet the needs of patients undergoing rehab.
We are a small friendly team with strong links to GSTT and community services. We take pride in providing holistic care to our patients who have undergone limb removal due to accident, trauma, or diabetes. Our specialist therapists and nurses work collaboratively to create tailored care plans for our patients.

Main duties of the job
The senior nursing assistants work closely with the qualified nursing team and therapists to provide care in our inpatient unit in the community. The ARU is located in Kennington and is supported by a multidisciplinary team led by professional therapists and nurses.
The unit comprises of 12 rehabilitation beds where patients admitted must have identifiable rehabilitation goals. The primary functions of ARU include:
* Rehabilitation care and support.
* Providing prosthetic limbs to amputee patients and follow-up care.
* Facilitating a return to independent living upon discharge.
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of an excellent MDT in the field of therapy and prosthetic rehabilitation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Nursing Care duties include:
* Vital signs recording and documentation.
* Assisting with personal care and toileting.
* Wound care and care planning.
* Blood glucose monitoring and meal service.
* ECG recording and escalating changes to the nursing and medical team.
* Communicating with patients and their relatives.
