Reimagine What’s Possible This position is accountable as the Supervisor for the following end results: Supervision of the Field Instrument team to include workload allocation and planning as well as personal development, HR management, approvals and determining competency gaps and training requirements. Determine and plan in resources for both planned and unplanned work to meet demand. Manage safety performance including BSP team leadership, incident reporting and investigation support where necessary. Maintain, update and operate using global, national and local procedures. Ensuring the Field Instrument team maintain operational excellence at all times. Purchase (EAR/asset management) of Field Instrument team test equipment ensuring through quality system management the equipment is maintained and calibrated in a timely manner to meet national standards, ensuring all records are maintained for traceability. Support Procurement by identifying new and suitable contractors and complete evaluations, feeding back their performance and adherence to Air Products policies and procedures. Provide technical support for the commissioning of new plant and equipment. Review and verification of correct installation, function checking, and commissioning of new plant and equipment, calibration, and acceptance of equipment from contractors. Prepare and review written reports within a reasonable time after completing an assignment, and ensuring resulting actions are completed, and communicated to all relevant parties. The reports should include supporting technical information, drawings, spare parts utilised, scope of work, quantity of resources used, key durations, recommendation and feedback, methods, special procedures/tools, and any future work. Conduct and lead classroom training for all Instrument Employees in the UK and Ireland who are expected to inspect, troubleshoot and maintain Safety Instrumented Systems. Conduct 3 yearly refresher training for personnel working with Safety Instrumented systems. Approving Field Principal Field Engineers to conduct the refresher training for Safety Instrumented Systems. This position is accountable as a Principal Field Engineer for the following end results: To respond to any major occurrence of plant breakdown where control and instrumentation expertise is required, carry out prompt inspection, analyse the fault, repair and re-commission affected plant and equipment to assure the minimum loss of production. Support plants with maintenance (planned, unplanned and major shutdown) both practically and by providing technical support. This will include working on maintenance shutdowns and may involve supervision of contractors and staff on site. Carry out plant modifications according to central design specification, submit any self-generated design changes to specialist engineers for approval before implementation. For some projects generate scope, costs and obtain Expenditure Approval (EAR) and execute the work scope. In association with the Maintenance Systems group, review and update the technical content of the preventive maintenance procedures and to recommend changes where improvements in safety, quality or economy may be affected. Education Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS G.C.S.E Math, English and Science min grade C Completion of a Formal Instrumentation Apprenticeship HNC or equivalent Computer skills (Microsoft Office, SAP, STAC) Compex (Ex 01 to Ex 04) Professional Licence Requirements Valid full driver’s licence Valid passport Skills And Experience Experience in the management and supervision of personnel is required (minimum 5 years) The Principal Engineer will need to have proven coaching skills. Multi-tasking is necessary, understanding business requirements and having the ability to prioritise work and any required support from the Field Instrument Team. The Field Instrument Supervisor supervises and/or performs preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, modifications, installation and commissioning of control and instrumentation systems and equipment in Industrial Gas production plants (Inc. joint venture and third-party facilities). They must be familiar with the control and instrumentation equipment and systems in the facilities served. For example: Analysers Measurement systems (temperature, pressure, flow, level, vibration) Shutdown systems Vibration Monitoring Equipment Control and switching valves Control systems (DCS and PLC) Pneumatic control systems. Safety Instrumented Systems Hazardous Area Equipment Inspections The Principal Engineer must have the ability to read instrumentation and trip panel drawings, logic diagrams and tables, PLC and DCS configuration documentation, and be able to communicate in English, both spoken and written word. The Principal Engineer will have experience of supervising multi-disciplined teams. The Principal Engineer must have a minimum of 10 years practical experience preferably in an air separation or petrochemical type industry.
