THIS Labs (which runs the platform Thiscovery) is a unique new social business, spun out from the University of Cambridge and supported generously with social investment from The Health Foundation. Our purpose is to support innovation and improvement in health and care by leveraging the insights of patients, staff and the public.
The Business Development Manager will be critical in building the commercial sustainability of our new venture. We're looking for someone tenacious, flexible, creative and adaptable with excellent commercial and communication skills. Main Duties
Pipeline Development:
* You will implement a sales pipeline which covers the whole lifetime of an opportunity from lead to operationalised project.
* You will be responsible for generating leads and moving them through the pipeline in order to meet specified financial and impact targets, taking an insight and data led approach to customer acquisition.
Building Customer Relationships:
* Working closely with the CEO, the Chief Scientific and Innovation Officer and other members of the senior leadership team you will lead on building THIS Labs’ relationships with key stakeholders in the health and care system, with a view to understanding the needs of our customers across a range of fields including academia, NHS providers, national bodies and health tech companies.
* You will support colleagues across the organisation to translate this knowledge into new products and approaches, new functionality for Thiscovery and new tools for problem definition, research, coproduction and evaluation.
* You will build long-term partnerships in order to deliver strategic projects that deliver both impact and financial sustainability.
* You will act as an ambassador for THIS Labs.
Proposal and Tender Writing:
* You will coordinate input from across the organisation to deliver high quality proposals and tenders that translate into successful projects.
* You will work with the Operations Manager to develop favourable contracts for services offered by THIS Labs.
Delivery:
* Working alongside the Insight and Innovation and Platform Delivery teams you will support the translation of new projects from proposal and tender stage to active projects on Thiscovery.
* You will help to ensure that the project which is delivered meets customer requirements and fulfils the proposal made by THIS Labs.
* You will be an essential link between the customer and the THIS Labs team.
Financial Management:
* You will manage the business development budget, including setting the budget on an annual basis, monitoring expenditure and ensuring that costs do not exceed budget.
* You will take responsibility for the efficient use of resources.
Quality and Innovation:
* Through your relationships with customers and your colleagues at THIS Labs you will identify opportunities for innovation in product and service design.
* You will work collaboratively and creatively to deliver customer requirements, but also keep THIS Labs on the leading edge of support for health and care improvement.
Marketing:
* Working with other members of the Business Development and Marketing team you will provide input to the marketing strategy for Thiscovery and THIS Labs based on your knowledge of customer needs and wants.
* You will collect client testimonials and from these, help develop client success stories and case studies to showcase the value of Thiscovery.
Knowledge Base:
Working with other members of THIS Labs you will develop and maintain a knowledge base for collateral related to business development such as bid templates, company information, client presentations, contracts and framework agreements.
