DWP Finance Group ensures the Department makes the best possible use of our resources, delivering and protecting value from our budget, ensuring delivery of a modern, fair, affordable and secure welfare system that makes a positive difference to people's lives now and in the future.
This role is critical to cross cutting activity at the heart of Finance Group and sits within the Planning and Business Support Operations Division within the Strategic Finance directorate.
The role will shape, drive and deliver a dynamic and efficient approach to planning, assurance and performance across Finance Group. In doing so the post holder will collaborate across Finance Group and lead a visible portfolio across a fast-moving environment in a diverse organisation that includes business planning, risk, assurance, business continuity, financial allocations, performance, security / data protection assurance and portfolio management.
Successful candidates will be joining a highly committed, supportive and sociable division in a range of locations. They will need to work across the whole of FG working with all levels of the organisation.
The roles responsibilities will include, but not restricted to:
* Work closely with senior leads to establish Finance Group’s strategic plan and annual business plans.
* Work closely and in partnership with Finance Business Partners in co-ordinating Finance Group’s spending review return, Business Planning and Annual Budget Allocations.
* Oversight of FG’s performance framework approach, including effective risk management, reporting, controls and assurance for Finance Group.
* Enable effective business continuity.
* Co-ordinate Finance Group commissions and responses to enable FG input into corporate DWP, professional and CS-wide initiatives.
* Understand and be a liaison point for FG on DWP information management, security and data policies’ and how these are be applied.
* Lead the assessment process for compliance with Information Management (including Registered File and Corporate Record Box Guidance), Data Protection, Security and related policies and procedures.
* Maintain FG’s Data Sharing Inventory and work with the Office of the Chief Data Officer on Data Sharing Strategies, policy and overall departmental Data Model.
* Leading Business Continuity activities across a business.
* Work and advice to enable timely decisions to be taken; engaging subject matter experts, and develop concise and easy to understand briefing.
* Engage effectively with and directly support the Finance Executive Team and wider group. Enable FG to be an exemplar in the way it plans, uses resources, approaches security, commercial arrangements, risk and audit.
* Lead a small, inclusive, geographically dispersed team, building capability and providing strategic support and direction.
You will need to be adaptable, resilient, and will be required to undertake a diverse range of tasks.
Hybrid working
This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need, but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
