We’re looking for a Data Solutions Architect to lead transformative data strategies and design solutions that drive meaningful change for our clients. Within our growing consulting business, you will have a pivotal role in owning and establishing data-oriented solutions to our clients, based on our internal range of products and on commercially available products and frameworks. In addition to the solution ownership and delivery responsibilities, you will be one of the drivers of our newly established capability framework, where you will have the opportunity to lead the creation of internal IP ranging from frameworks and methods to go-to-market concept demonstrators. The successful candidate is also expected to actively support Envitia’s sales effort, from a pre-sales perspective, where you will own the technical solutioning process, by defining the approaches and associated effort/cost estimates, but equally maintain a marketplace presence with the attendance in events and conferences where you will have the opportunity to present the advancements of our products, concept demonstrators and perspectives. Job Responsibilities Provide direction, advice and support to organizational data change, though the creation of data strategies and advisory artefacts. Lead the development of data governance frameworks and organisational data functions to manage and govern the state of data. Lead and own the full delivery cycle for modern data architectures across a spectrum of commercially technologies frameworks and hosting platforms. Analyse and gather requirements, translating them into effective and tailored solutions. Work closely with project managers, technical teams, and other stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of the proposed data architectures. Provide technical leadership in solution reviews and ensure designs meet client and regulatory standards. Contribute to the design and development of cross-cutting managed services within Envitia and our client pool. Carry out horizon scanning to identify emerging technology and industry trends and assess their potential impact and opportunity to become Envitia offerings to the market. Become an active contributor to Envitia’s architecture policies and standards and ensure all solutions meet our architecture policies and standards. Develop cost models, risk assessments, and business cases for proposed solutions. Ensure solution and data architectures are subject to robust cost and effort estimation, covering design, development, transition, operation, maintenance and exit costs. Guide, mentor and coach junior members of the team Skills Required Data Architecture Strong technical design expertise in core data architecture disciplines including data modelling, data analysis, metadata management, data transformation, data migration and master data. Experience in establishing analytics and AI solutions. Good working knowledge of ontologies and taxonomies. Good working experience of AWS (e.g. S3, Kinesis, Glue, Redshift, Lambda and EMR) and/or Azure data services (e.g. ADF, Synapse, Fabric, Azure Functions). Data quality/validation experience: designing metrics and KPIs to verify and automate management of data quality – experience in Purview would be very welcome. Working experience in Data Lakehouse environments such as Databricks, Snowflake and/or Microsoft Fabric would be an advantage. Knowledge and experience of Palantir Foundry or Gotham would be an advantage. Relevant certifications, such as DAMA or DCAM are a plus. Solution Architecture Good understanding of Enterprise Architecture frameworks and tools including TOGAF, Zachman or ArchiMate. Experience in requirement elicitation and management across functional and non-functional business requirements and follow-on translation into solution designs. Demonstrable experience in major cloud vendors – ideally supported with relevant platform / solution architecture certification Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, microservices, integration and containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Experience in different technology stacks, including common legacy and modern stacks Solid experience in distributed architecture, integrating Azure and AWS native applications with COTS applications. Core Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills. Proven experience in leading major transformation projects. Experience at Presenting to Technical Design Authority forums to secure approval from relevant stakeholders, including colleagues from business, operations, and IT Experience in leading solution development in pre-sales activities, including developing proposals and delivering client presentations. Large experience with Defence or Central Government clients – A good understanding of GDS standards will be deemed as a key differentiator. Security Clearance Requirements The successful candidate must be eligible to go through a SC level security clearance. Location The role will be required onsite in our Horsham offices 1 day a week and travel to client sites when required.
