We Are St Helens Borough Council Located in the heart of the Northwest close to Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire, St Helens is a transformational Council which is passionate and ambitious for the communities we support. We provide a wide range of local authority services to the residents, businesses, schools, and visitors to the borough. We can only do this because of our highly valued, highly skilled workforce. Working together, our workplace vision and values guide our organisation, and the contribution of our workforce is key to our culture journey. Employees with us receive a wide range of benefits including well-being in work, financial benefits, ways of working and learning and development support. Making A Difference as an Activity Cook in Stephenson Resource Centre Day Opportunities provides a day service for adults with learning, physical and sensory disabilities. New Ventures is a social enterprise that employs people with a learning disability in various roles within Stephenson Day Centre, these include providing on site catering to both customers who hire the training facility and those attending the Day Service. All income from the catering and training facility room hire is reinvested to employ 13 people with a learning disability. Therefore, a business minded approach to budgeting is necessary. We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic, flexible, highly motivated cook who will not only plan and provide good quality catering cooked to order but also support employees with learning disabilities to develop skills in a catering environment. The cook will be required to plan and order stock for daily food orders, as well as occasional larger buffets for events. We are looking for someone who is adaptable and can respond to occasional impromptu orders or changes to the day. We would also like the Cook to provide regular cookery sessions for people with learning disabilities as both a sensory and skill learning experience. Experience of working with people with a disability is an advantage. Experience of working in an operational kitchen environment to a high standard and ability to maintain the current 5-star hygiene rating is essential. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 5 hours per day flexibly between 8.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. For all enquiries please contact: Joanne Jackson on 01744 677838 / 07917086630 Interested to Find Out More?
