One of my local government clients are currently recruiting an experienced Rent Arrears Recovery Officer on a temporary basis. This is a 3-month minimum contract with the possibility of the role being extended further to work Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm. Hybrid working role were, however, you will be required to attend the office 2/3 times a week. Overview: As the Rent Arrears and Recovery & Enforcement Officer the post holder will be working within the Shared Finance Service, Housing Income & Financial Inclusion Team to administer, collect and recover Housing Rent, and Temporary accommodation charges. The Shared Finance Service ambition is to add value, inspire success and this role is part of the Shared Finance Service (SFS) team collectively responsible for delivering SFS activities to realise this ambition. Responsibilities: Deliver service activities and manage caseloads under the supervision of more experienced staff to ensure intended outcomes for customers and the Council are delivered within agreed service standards. Direct responsibility for management of accounts, for an allocated patch and also shared responsibility for the overall performance of the Housing Income and Collection Team. Production of clear, concise, accurate and timely management reports together with a high standard of letter writing/communication skills. To provide an income maximisation/debt counselling advice service to all tenants in rent arrears. Work with & support challenging and vulnerable residents and making informed decisions when contacting the range of support workers which are available. Contribute to the process of updating policies and procedures for the income recovery team. To ensure that RBK’s targets to constrain the growth of rent arrears & improve rent collection levels are met by prompt and efficient recovery actions in accordance with set procedures and good practice guidelines. Responsible for the management of the preparation and dispatch of appropriate system-produced standard arrears letters, Interviewing tenants at both the workplace and/or their homes; sometimes outside normal working hours.
