Cardiff and Vale University Health Board
Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow Post within Nephrology with an anticipated start date of February 2025. This post is for 6 months initially.
The post is full-time (40 hours) only and this is an unbanded post working within the nephrology department of UHW.
This role is ideally suited for a post-IMT doctor, who is considering a future career in nephrology or an allied specialty. Full support and guidance will be given for application to the specialist training scheme, with the expectation that the successful candidate will gain a specialty training number by the end of the clinical fellow post.
Main duties of the job
The work will include ward cover, dialysis unit and outpatient clinic cover, with full training offered in all renal-specific procedures.
There will be a non-clinical half day per week timetabled, to develop a specific interest associated with a career in nephrology. Examples include developing a research interest, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, transplant training including organ cross matching and procedural training including AV fistula scanning. The non-clinical component is flexible, and any appropriate requests will be facilitated.
