Our Centre Resource Base supports children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other complex needs, ensuring they receive the tailored support necessary to thrive both academically and socially.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated full-time Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to supporting children with ASD, encouraging their independence and promoting a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one and group support for students with ASD, helping them access the curriculum and develop essential skills.
2. Work closely with the teaching staff to implement individualised education plans and adapt learning activities as needed.
3. Create a nurturing and inclusive environment that encourages social interaction and emotional development.
4. Monitor and record students' progress, behaviour and engagement, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
5. Collaborate with other professionals, including therapists and specialists, to support the all-inclusive development of each child.
6. Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in supporting children with additional needs.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with ASD, is highly desirable.
2. Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification/ NVQs) is desirable but not required.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
4. Patience, empathy and a passion for supporting children in their learning journey.
5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and to take initiative when required.
